1st March Research Board Around Coal Mining

On Wednesday 1st March, I started to develop research board exploring my theme and areas which inspire me towards my project "industry &a justice". The sheet reflected my initial ideas and research undertaken through my primary research and areas which are going to inspire me through my development of the theme. Also, within the workshop I generated my project proposal timetable which explores and plan what I am going to be completing each week initially.  It has allowed me to indefinitely the materials I will be using and required in order the complete the task. Also it's allowed me to identify if I will be required to use the workshop areas and my specialised environment of Textiles.  It has allowed me to plan my time efficiently and organise to work up to the deadline and achieve the highest grade I am wanting to gain.  It has allowed me to summarise Textiles materials I am going to use and techniques which will be reflected through health and safety. The workshop has allowed me to use critical and contextual perspectives to prepare for the project proposal and research sheets. Also, the task has allowed us to use analysis and evaluation to prepare and organise my project proposal. Finally the task has allowed me to use research and analysis to develop solutions for the chosen project theme of "industry and justice".

To start the task I continued to generate my final draft project proposal through my timetable which includes areas I am going to complete each weeks and equipment I will be using. I find these timetables useful as it gives me the confidence to plan my time efficiently and work to a deadline accurately. It allows me to identify equipment I will be needing and how I am going to obtain this. Also, the timetable allowed me to demonstrate my understanding of evaluation through highlighting areas I will be completing tutorials, self-assessments and peer assessments. Once I completed the outcome I focused on my research sheet which explores my inspiration towards the project. I decided to focus the board around my inspiration of local industry and primary research obtained through my visit to Barnsley museums. I wanted to include the impact of industry and justice through the strike movement and objects obtained from my primary research. To create the layout I split the board to emphasise the differences but how they are connected together. I wanted to demonstrate my understanding of the materials I can use and I used the combination of ink, Gouache, pencil, pen, coloured pencils and watercolours. The piece was built up with collage and paper surfaces to create texture. I emphasised areas I found most inspiring which includes the workers union tapestry, badges and "women supporting the miners" objects. Each material used allowed me to emphasise the striking areas through colour and line. The built up of collage identified both aspects of the project and what will inspire me towards my project.

Final Outcome

Overall I was pleased with the outlook of the piece and the combination of primary research and influences towards the project. Next I am going to generate a further research board exploring the area of "global industry" and "justice" through my research collected from New York City. This includes my visit to a protest to around the subject of Donald Trump and companies. I will also be emphasising freedom and justice through New York artwork and my visit to the MoMA gallery. Finally I will be including images collected from industrial attractions including Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Centre and New York highline.
